Eagle Scout Builds Flag Drop Box for Proper Disposal of American Flags in Brownsburg

There’s a new and convenient location in Brownsburg for residents to drop off their worn and tattered American flags for appropriate disposal.

Boy Scout Connor Duke of Troop 397

Local Boy Scout Connor Duke of Troop 397 built an American flag retirement box as his Eagle project. The red, white, and blue wooden box was installed outside Brownsburg Town Hall, 61 N. Green St.

“We are thrilled to have this new drop box available to the community,” said Town Council President Travis Tschaenn. “It’s wonderful to see young people like Connor and his troop stepping up and taking on such an important project. This drop box is a testament to their commitment to serving the community and their love for our country.”

Residents can leave their flags in the box located on the backside of the building on the outdoor patio space connected to the Town Court. Troop 397 will collect the flags and hold a proper flag retirement ceremony to ensure they are retired with respect and dignity.
