Crowdfunding campaign launched for “The Playground at Northwest Community Park” Project in Brownsburg

BROWNSBURG – Residents in Brownsburg will soon have a new playground if a crowdfunding campaign is successful. Parkside Bible Church is using the CreatINg Places program offered by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) for The Playground at Northwest Community Park project. The money raised will be used to build a new playground on the edge of Brownsburg.

“A safe space for kids of all abilities is something every community needs,” said Carmen Lethig, Placemaking Manager for IHCDA. “What is particularly exciting about this project is that volunteers will spend a week constructing the park.”

If the campaign reaches its $30,000 goal by May 6th, the project will receive a matching grant of $30,000 from IHCDA’s CreatINg Places program.

The funding raised during this campaign will create a playground that features distinct areas for children of different ages. The design features equipment for different age groups, as well as a therapeutic swing for children with special needs.

“Brownsburg is growing rapidly, especially in families with young children,” said Eddie Ferguson, Parkside Bible Church. “Northwest Community Park exists to meet the need for a park on the North side of town. We, at Parkside Bible Church, are thrilled to partner with our community to create this amazing community space.”

Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised in excess of $1,980,000 in public funds and an additional $1,693,000 in matching IHCDA funds.

The CreatINg Places program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and Local Units of Government are eligible to apply.

Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should they successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
