Crash that led to the death of a Hendricks County Deputy leads to an arrest of a man on a previous warrant

Juan Gomez

PLAINFIELD- The Plainfield Police Department continues to investigate the single vehicle crash on April 15, 2024, that led to the untimely in the line of duty death of Deputy Fred Fislar. Yesterday, the Plainfield Police arrested and transported to Hendrick County Jail, Juan Gomez (20 of Guatemala), on an arrest warrant from a previous OWI investigation. The arrest warrant stemmed from a Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department OWI investigation from March 3, 2024.

Gomez was charged in that investigation, with four counts including: Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering a Person (Class A Misd.), Minor Consuming Alcohol (Class C Misd.), Knowing or Intentionally Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Ever Receiving a License (Class C Misd.) and Operating A Vehicle with Alcohol Concentration Equivalent to .15 or More (Class A Misd.). It is important to note that this arrest of Gomez was in connection to the March 3, 2024, OWI Investigation, and the investigation into the April 15, 2024, crash is still ongoing.

** All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law. **
