Construction Work Increasing on the I-65 Added Travel Lanes Project Through Tippecanoe County

INDOTTIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces with the arrival of spring, work activity will be increasing on the I-65 added travel lanes project.  Work will start at the southern limits of the project near State Road 38 (S.R. 38) and continue through the entire project to near the Wabash River Bridge.  Motorists can expect lane restrictions during the nighttime hours and changing traffic patterns as work advances.   The contractor will be working nightly between the hours of 8 p.m. until 6 a.m.  Two 11’ lanes will be maintained during the daytime.

The I-65 added travel lanes project was awarded to Walsh Construction Co. for $82.8 million.  This project will add an additional lane both northbound and southbound from one half of a mile south of State Road 38 to nearly one mile north of State Road 25. This project also includes construction of four noise walls, widening the S.R. 25, S.R. 26  and the Wildcat Creek Bridges.  Four overhead bridges will be worked on as well, C.R. 200 S., C.R. 500 E., C.R. 350 E.(Eisenhower Road) and C.R. 200 N.  This project is scheduled to be completed in late November of 2017.
