INDIANAPOLIS – Senator Dan Coats (R-Ind.) recently received the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence. The award is given to legislators who consistently support policies that allow manufacturers to create jobs, compete in the global economy and improve living standards for manufacturing workers.
“Indiana is one of the leading manufacturing states in the country, and we must do all we can to ensure our Hoosier manufacturing sector is competitive in the global marketplace,” said Coats. “I am honored to receive this award and will continue to fight for policies that help manufacturers and our Hoosier workforce create high-quality American products.”
NAM is an industrial trade association representing manufacturers and manufacturing employees. The award was determined based on Coats’ voting record during the 114th Congress on a series of votes relating to manufacturing policies.
In 2014, Indiana was ranked first in the United States for manufacturing employment per capita and highest manufacturing income.
