Champions for Education, Partners in Excellence

The Avon Education Foundation (AEF) exists to support creativity, innovation and excellence within Avon Schools. The foundation generates revenue through corporate sponsorships, private donations and special events that are used to benefit K-12 students in all 12 Avon Schools. On Friday May 4, Champion Chevrolet of Avon made a substantial commitment to financially support the mission of AEF.

“This is the first sponsorship of its kind for AEF,” says Sara Bender, Executive Director, “Champion Chevrolet of Avon has been very generous within our community. We are thrilled that they are now also choosing to partner with our foundation. The impact this sponsorship will have on our ability to support the students and staff within Avon Schools is absolutely incredible.”

Champion Chevrolet of Avon is now the first AEF Platinum Plus Benefactor Sponsor. The sponsorship includes a designated portion that will fully fund the Avon High School Evening of Excellence for the top 25 graduating seniors.

Tim Roberts, Champion Chevrolet of Avon, recounts the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Mankind divides itself into two classes, –benefactors and malefactors. The second class is vast; the first a handful.” Roberts adds, “We just want to be doing the right thing for our children, teachers, and our community as we have a social due diligence to make sure that we, as business leaders in the community, invest in our children’s future. This ensures that our children have the resources, tools, and the opportunities to go forward in life and to be recognized along with the teachers whom make the real-life sacrifices that help make this all possible.”

The 2018 Evening of Excellence was held at the Country Club of Indianapolis. Each year, recognized students are invited to attend with their parents as well as two educators that have positively impacted their success. Bender notes, “AEF has always been committed to excellence and this event exemplifies the highest level of academic excellence awarded to students in Avon Schools. This event is the single highest annual line item expense in our budget. Going forward, this will be made possible through the AEF Champion Chevrolet of Avon Benefactor Fund and will allow our general fund to impact more students than ever before!”
