Brownsburg Man Suffers Gunshot Wound in Hunting Incident (Hendricks County)

Brownsburg – Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an accidental shooting of a Brownsburg Man. Daniel Wright, 67, of Brownsburg was waterfowl hunting Thursday afternoon on private property near Brownsburg when the incident took place.

Shortly before 5:00 p.m., Wright, who was hunting alone, attempted to traverse a wet and muddy field in attempt to retrieve game that was just shot.  While doing so, Wright lost his footing and fell to his knees.  While attempting to stand back, Wright’s shotgun discharged a round striking his left hand. The exact cause of the discharge is still under investigation.

Wright was able to call 911 for help.  The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department and EMS responded to the scene.

Wright was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis by ambulance.  Wright’s injuries are not life threatening, but he is expected to undergo surgery for his injuries.
