BROWNSBURG, IN (June 11, 2019) – A collision at a busy intersection in Brownsburg between a motorcyclist and an SUV left a motorcyclist dead.
Brownsburg Fire was dispatched at 7:05 pm Tuesday to the intersection of Northfield Drive and North Green Street in Brownsburg on a report of a motorcycle accident with injury. Engine 131 and Medic 131 responded. More information about the condition of the motorcyclist became available as these units were traveling to the scene, leading to a decision to call for Ladder 131 to respond as well for additional EMT’s and equipment. When the initially dispatched companies arrived, they found several bystanders performing CPR on the unconscious motorcyclist. Firefighters, Paramedics, and an Emergency Department Physician who responded to the scene determined that the driver of the motorcycle, 23 year old Jonathan Loveland of Brownsburg, was deceased at the scene at least in part, of traumatic injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, which was performed by Brownsburg Police Department. Investigators continue to work diligently to determine the cause of the crash.
The incident created tremendous traffic backups for nearly two hours at the heavily traveled intersection, which was necessarily closed in all directions to perform the crash investigation.
In partnership with Hendricks Regional Health, three Emergency Department Physicians are equipped with emergency vehicles and communications equipment to allow them to respond immediately, at their discretion, to emergency medical incidents in Brownsburg and throughout Hendricks County. In this case, the doctor arrived less than two minutes after our first unit on the scene.
