An investigation conducted by the Bloomington District ACES (Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Section) resulted in what is believed to be the largest single methamphetamine seizure in Monroe County history. The investigation resulted in approximately 3 pounds of methamphetamine being seized from traffic stops and multiple search warrants of Monroe County residences. The total street value of the methamphetamine seized was estimated to be just over $136,000.
The investigation began on the evening of May 22nd, after Trp. Riley Nungester conducted a traffic stop along SR 37, near Arlington Road. During this stop, approximately 4 grams of methamphetamine was recovered. Information obtained during the traffic stop led troopers to identify a possible methamphetamine dealer in Bloomington.
On May 23rd, troopers were granted a search warrant that found nearly 2 ounces of methamphetamine inside a residence. In addition, marijuana, schedule IV controlled substance pills, and drug paraphernalia were seized. Troopers also recovered three handguns – one .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol, one .9mm semi-automatic pistol, and one .380 caliber pistol.
All guns were loaded and two had the serial numbers obliterated.
Information located during the first search warrant led to information on two other suspected methamphetamine dealers. Once the suspected dealers were identified, they were located in a vehicle near Kinser Pike and SR 45/46 Bypass. Troopers Zach Parker and Gabe Bault conducted a traffic stop where Trp. Allen Deel deployed his canine, Drogos, who gave a positive alert. A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of over 2 more ounces of methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia and several different types of Schedule II, III, and IV controlled substance pills.
All pills and methamphetamine were packaged and ready for sale.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Tiffany Flynn (10/02/84) and the passenger was identified as Brandon Norris (5/16/82). Both reside on Valley View Lane in Bloomington.
Troopers then received a search warrant on the Valley View Lane residence. While serving this search warrant during the early morning hours of May 24th, the ACES recovered 2.75 pounds of methamphetamine, US currency, scales, and drug packaging materials.
