Avon Community School Board names two new administrators

Avon, IN (August 25, 2015) – The Avon Community School Board approved the appointment of two new administrators for Avon Schools. Mr. Keary Rininger will become the new principal at Hickory Elementary effective August 31, 2015. Mr. Jarrod Gatlin was named the assistant principal for Maple and White Oak Elementary Schools. He will began his new role September 3, 2015.

Mr. Rininger comes to the district from MSD of Perry Township where he served as principal at Glenns Valley Elementary School for four years. In other roles, he has served as assistant principal and fourth grade teacher. He received a master’s degree from Butler University and an undergraduate degree from Purdue University.

Mr. Gatlin will take on the unique roll of serving as assistant principal for both Maple and White Oak Elementary Schools. He most recently served as an assistant principal at Allisonville Elementary (MSD Washington Township). Additional experience includes high ability teacher, instructional coach and elementary principal. Mr. Gatlin received a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and a master’s degree from Butler University.

“We are thrilled to attract such accomplished educational leaders to Avon and we are grateful to their sending districts for the smooth transitions,” stated ACSC Superintendent Dr. Margaret (Maggie) Hoernemann.

Mrs. Nikki Harrison, principal of Maple Elementary will serve in the dual role of principal at Maple and White Oak Elementary.

The School Board expressed appreciation for former White Oak Principal Mrs. Annette Patchett and former Hickory Principal Mr. Scott Collins for their leadership and service to Avon’s students. They also thanked retired Avon educator Mrs. Pat Rhodes for filling in as assistant principal during the search process.
