Arts Commission announces Fort Wayne to host second annual Indiana Arts Homecoming

(Indianapolis, Indiana) The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced today that Fort Wayne, Indiana will host the second annual Indiana Arts Homecoming. This statewide convening of artists, arts educators, arts administrators, advocates, and community leaders will be October 18 – 19, 2018 at the Fort Wayne Arts Campus in downtown Fort Wayne.

The theme for the 2018 Indiana Arts Homecoming is Quality of Place for a Vibrant Indiana, and will explore the broad role the arts play in community development, the intersection with economic development, and the impact for the state.

“The response to the inaugural event was beyond expectation, and confirmation that communities of all sizes recognize the great potential in developing partnerships involving the arts in their community development efforts,” said Lewis C. Ricci, IAC Executive Director. “Fort Wayne has a thriving arts community, and development of the downtown arts campus is a shining example of a community arts partnership.”

Registration for the 2018 Indiana Arts Homecoming will open soon. Interested attendees can RSVP for the convening at the Homecoming Facebook Page or complete an RSVP form here.

The Arts Commission is accepting proposals for Homecoming session content and creative content. Theme-focused session content could include inspirational ways the arts are intersecting with specific communities (aging, veterans, special needs, minorities); examples of how the arts and artists are creating vibrancy in a community; how the arts are addressing community challenges (housing, addiction, healthcare, and population migration) and leadership; and innovative arts and community partnerships; however proposed sessions do not have to relate directly to the theme.

Creative content could include live performances, demonstrations / workshops that are hands-on and participatory; interactive pop-up exhibits, installations, or creative interventions; and tours.

Submissions must be made through the IAC online system and completed by Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Proposals may be submitted by an individual, group, government entity, and schools.

The Arts Commission is also accepting nominations or suggestions for potential keynote speakers. To submit a suggestion, complete this form.

“InstaGrant,” a popular part of the 2017 Homecoming event will be returning for the 2018 Arts Homecoming showcasing arts-centric projects from communities in all regions of the state. Once again, Homecoming attendees will have opportunity to review community presentations and vote for their favorites. The winner will receive an “InstaGrant” to assist in furthering the success of their project.
