A Stop for No Taillights Led to the Arrest of Three People on 30 Charges

Lawrence, IN – An early morning traffic stop near 25th Street and Post Road led to the arrest of three people on 30 preliminary charges. The incident began when Trooper Brandon Fletcher saw a pick-up truck on Post Road with no taillights on. When Fletcher turned on his red and blue lights the truck continued driving, weaving all over the road, pulled off to the right side then swerved back across the lanes and came to a stop on the left side of the road. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the driver and the two passengers.

Initially neither the driver, nor the two occupants could provide an identification. They each verbally identified themselves, two of which were later found to be false identities. As the incident progressed other troopers arrived to assist, at which time all three occupants were placed in handcuffs. Paramedics were called to the scene when it was determined one of the passengers had consumed a bag of heroin when they were being pulled over. A search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia, a digital scale, a syringe containing heroin, pills, and a loaded handgun.

The driver of the pick-up, 30 year old Shane Stockhoff, was found to be under the influence of methamphetamine and Buprenorphine tablets. In addition to the arrests for the new charges, all three of the vehicle occupants had active arrest warrants.

The charges listed below are merely accusations, formal charges will be determined by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.

Trooper Fletcher was assisted by Trooper Flores, Trooper Atwell, Trooper Hall, Trooper Stout and officers from the Lawrence Police Department.
