INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Homicide detectives are investigating a person shot in the 6000 block of East 21st street yesterday evening.
Just past 8:00 p.m. on 11.21.17 officers with IMPD East district were dispatched to the 6000 block of East 21st street on a person shot. Officers and Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) responded to the scene and located a male with an apparent gunshot wound to his body. Medics began treating him immediately and transported him to Methodist hospital in critical condition. Shortly thereafter, he was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Witnesses advised two males fled from the scene in a black colored SUV, northbound on N. Arlington Ave. prior to the police arriving.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began canvassing the area and speaking to witnesses. The Indianapolis – Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist with identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO) will be assisting and will determine the exact manner and cause of death. The name of the victim can be obtained from the MCCO after proper next-of-kin notification has been made.
