Parke County—This afternoon at 12:33, Indiana State Police Sergeant Joe Watts came upon a crash in the northbound lane of US 41, just north of State Road 163. The crash injured the driver and only occupant.
Preliminary investigation revealed 66-year-old Valerie S. Cole of Montezuma, IN. was operating her 2002 GMC pickup northbound on US 41 from SR 163, when she lost control on the wet pavement and veered into the east embankment. After striking the embankment, the pickup spun clockwise, coming to final rest facing west in the northbound lane.
Valerie Cole was extricated by members of the Lyford Fire/Rescue Department and transported to Union Hospital of Clinton for substantial chest and back pain. Seatbelts were in use. No citations were issued.
The crash was investigated by ISP Sergeant Joe Watts. Assisting were ISP Master Trooper Ty Lightle, Parke County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jason Frazier and Sergeant Brad McNeill, Parke County EMS, Lyford Fire/Rescue, and Double D Wrecker Service.
