INDIANAPOLIS, IN – On Wednesday, June 8, 2016, detectives from the IMPD Violent Crimes Unit and Gang Unit arrested 33-year-old Michael Edwards and 28-year-old Kenneth Jones on arrest warrants for Murder and Attempted Murder. These suspects are accused of shooting and killing 32-year-old Tamara Sword on August 22, 2015, in a parking lot located in the 3800 block of Lafayette Road. Detectives believe a disturbance at a nearby nightclub spilled outside and shots were fired a short time later. Tamara Sword was fatally injured from gunfire as she sat in the passenger seat of a vehicle. During the course of this arrest, detectives served a search warrant in the 5000 block of Clarkson Drive where several weapons and a small amount of narcotics were seized. Edwards and Jones will be taken to the Arrestee Processing Center. Their current mugshots are not in the system and will be released once the mugshots are available. The probable cause and charging affidavits should be obtained from the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
