Avon, IN—The Avon-Washington Township Public Library (AWTPL) is excited to announce that it has received a $4,000 Arts Project Support (APS) Grant from the Indiana Arts Commission in partnership with Noblesville Creates, with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. This APS grant will fund a series of eight arts programs called “Crafting Connections” for tweens, teens, and adults at the Avon Library in 2026. This funding allows AWTPL to bring professional art teachers to Washington Township directly benefiting patrons who otherwise would not have easy access to art classes such as these, including seniors and home school students. Art brings people together, and the goals of Crafting Connections are that participants will create and deepen friendships with their neighbors as well as learn new skills, build confidence, and be inspired to create more artwork. Art classes are the perfect place to strike up a conversation with a neighbor or a friend.
Classes include Ceramics and Sgraffito with Danielle Pugel, Basket Weaving and Broom Making with Bev Larson, Painting with Amanda Keller, Fused Glass Night Lights with Janette Fluharty, and Felted Fiber Paperweights. AWTPL Library Staff members involved in this project include Teen Librarian Jenny Wakolbinger, Adult Reference Librarian Jo Lauck, and Marketing & Community Relations Manager Susie Ardelean. Classes and registration information can be found on the library’s website, www.AvonLibrary.net. Participants needing special accommodations should email Jo jlauck@avonlibrary.net or Jenny jwakolbinger@avonlibrary.net and we will do our best to accommodate you. Activities are made possible in part by Noblesville Creates and the Indiana Arts Commission, which received support from the State of Indiana and the National Endowment for the Arts. If you have any questions, please email Susie at sardelean@avonlibrary.net.
