IMPD Officers make apprehension in overnight Burger King Armed Robbery

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers arrest two juveniles in connection with an armed Robbery at Burger King.

IMPD officers were dispatched to the Burger King located in the 3400 block of W 16th St, just after 12:30 a.m., on reports of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, the officers were advised that three males, armed with a gun were seen fleeing from the store on foot and getting into a gray PT cruiser, which drove away quickly from the scene.  At approximately 12:41 a.m., alert IMPD officers observed a gray PT cruiser driving north on Somerset. The officers stopped the vehicle in the 3400 block of Lafayette Rd, at which time the rear, driver’s side passenger, wearing a dark hoodie, got out and fled from officers. They were able to detain the other five occupants (three females, two males), of the PT cruiser.

Robbery detectives responded and took over the investigation. Two juveniles were positively identified through video surveillance and witness statements, as being involved in the robbery, and were subsequently arrested. An IMPD Evidence Technician responded to collect evidence, to include an airsoft gun, which looked like a real firearm. The vehicle was towed to police impound for further evidence processing.

IMPD detectives canvassed the area for additional witnesses and information. The three females were interviewed and released. The juveniles were later taken to the Juvenile Detention Center for processing. Due to the suspects’ juvenile status, no booking photos will be available. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers of Indiana at (317)262-TIPS (8477). Information may be given anonymously.
