INDIANAPOLISHanna Kelley, RD, LD, Director of Health and Wellness for American Dairy Association Indiana (ADAI), was recognized recently as recipient of two prestigious awards:

Outstanding Dietitian of the Year, awarded by the Indiana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (IAND), and

The Bill Bock Outstanding Departmental Alumnus Award, presented by Ball State University’s Department of Nutrition and Health Science.

“It is an incredible honor to be named recipient of just one of the awards,” said ADAI CEO Jenni Browning. “For Hanna to receive both awards at very nearly the same time is extraordinary. Everyone associated with the Indiana dairy industry is so proud of and happy for her because she truly has earned these honors with her exemplary skills and dedication.”

IAND’s Outstanding Dietitian of the Year Award is presented to a member of the Academy who has contributed exceptional service to IAND and other food and nutrition organizations, has demonstrated outstanding professional leadership abilities, and has been instrumental in moving the nutrition and dietetics profession forward for 10 or more years.

Ball State University’s Bill Bock Award – named after a long-time faculty member – has been presented since 1991 by the Department of Physiology and Health Science. Each year, an alumnus is honored in recognition of contributions to their discipline through teaching, scholarship and/or service in the field of nutrition and health science.

As a registered and licensed Dietitian for nearly 20 years, Kelley is passionate about her community’s health and helping people understand the facts about food and where it comes from. Prior to joining the dairy association seven years ago, she was a Consultant Dietitian in hospital and long-term care settings, community healthcare facilities and group home care, and she served as Executive Director of the Indiana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

As American Dairy Association Indiana’s Director of Health and Wellness, representing the state’s 700 dairy farm families, Kelley supplies science-based nutrition information to healthcare providers, schools, the media and the community, and supports the organization’s work to engage youth in wellness activities through the Fuel Up program.

“I’m so grateful to both the Indiana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and to Ball State’s Department of Physiology and Health Science for this recognition,” Kelley said. “It’s such an honor to receive these types of awards from your colleagues, and I’m truly appreciative to be selected.”
