Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) aggravated assault detectives arrested 19-year-old Raniya Lee for her alleged involvement in an early Sunday morning shooting.
On Sunday June 12, 2022, just before 1:30 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers were dispatched to 9226 Sussex Terrace, on a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they located two adult females at this location, suffering from injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) responded and transported both victims to area hospitals. One victim is said to be in critical condition.
IMPD aggravated assault detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. While on scene Lee walked into Community East Hospital suffering from injuries consistent with a graze wound(s). While detectives were in route, a female teenage victim walked into Community East Hospital suffering from injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). Just before 6:30 a.m., an adult female walked into Community North Hospital suffering from injuries consistent with a graze wound(s). Preliminary information leads investigators to believe everyone involved is tied to the same incident.
Through further investigation, detectives were able to identify Raniya Lee as a suspect. Lee was taken into custody without further incident and arrested for attempted murder.
The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence.
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) will make the final charging decision.
