IMPD Detectives Arrest Teen for armed robbery x2, and auto theft

INDIANAPOLIS- Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Covert Robbery detectives identified and arrested a 15-year-old juvenile on Wednesday March 9, 2022 for his alleged involvement in two armed robberies and auto theft.
 
On Saturday, February 26, 2022 at approximately 10:30 p.m., A Marion County Sheriff‘s Office deputy was working off duty employment at Castleton Square Mall located at 6020 E 82nd St. when he encountered the male victim who stated he was robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot. IMPD responded and took over this investigation. 
 
On Saturday, February 26, 2022, IMPD at approximately 11:00 p.m., IMPD dispatched to the 8100 block of Castleway Ct. W. on a report of an auto theft.  Officers encountered a male victim who stated his black 2018 Hyundai was stolen. (IP20018599)
 
On February 27, 2022, IMPD officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of E. Fall Creek Pkwy S. Dr. on a report of an unsecure residence with forced entry. Officers responded and came in contact with a male victim who stated no one was authorized to be inside the residence and there was an unknown black vehicle in his driveway, which did not belong to him.

The investigation continued, and detectives identified a possible juvenile suspect. On Thursday, March 3, 2022, detectives executed a search warrant at the residence of the alleged suspect. Detectives recovered evidence of the first two incidents inside the residence and the stolen vehicle was located in close proximity of the juvenile’s residence.
 
On Wednesday March 9, 2022, detectives arrested the 15-year-old juvenile for armed robbery x2, and auto theft.

An arrest is merely an accusation.  The juvenile is presumed innocent unless and until found true (equivalent of guilty in adult court) in a court of law.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decisions.
