Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Indianapolis Among Top 30 Walks Across Country

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, FEBRUARY 9, 2021 –The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Indianapolis was recently ranked the #16 Walk in the United States, raising more than $635,000. The money raised by this landmark event will fund Alzheimer’s care, support and research programs.

Due to the pandemic, instead of hosting a large gathering, the Alzheimer’s Association encouraged participants to walk as individuals or in small groups across the country. On Oct. 3, more than 1,400 residents walked on sidewalks, tracks and trails across the Indianapolis metro area.

“Families facing Alzheimer’s have been greatly affected by the pandemic, and the Alzheimer’s Association has continued to provide free, around-the-clock support during this time. Each and every one of our Walk sponsors, volunteers and participants help make that happen,” said Julie Moore, director, Indianapolis Walk to End Alzheimer’s. “We recognize how challenging 2020 was, on so many levels, and we are incredibly grateful for their generosity.”

In 2020, nearly 48,000 teams participated in more than 600 Walks across the country, raising more than $65 million. Together, the top 30 Walks contributed more than $20 million to the overall total raised.
