Plainfield, IN – Sunday morning, at 3:21, emergency crews were called to the scene of a serious crash in the east bound lanes of I-70 at the 67.7 mile marker, near the Plainfield Exit. 911 callers reported the crash involved a semi-tractor trailer and a passenger car. When first responders arrived they found an adult female lying on the ground unconscious and unresponsive, despite life saving efforts the female was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another adult female was injured but alert and conscious, she was transported to an area hospital. The driver of the semi-tractor trailer was not injured.

Preliminary crash investigation at the scene revealed the driver of the semi-tractor trailer had pulled over to the right shoulder, out of the roadway. A short time later the passenger car collided with the rear end of the semi trailer. There was heavy rain in the area at the time of the crash, weather and road conditions are believed to have contributed to this crash. The deceased female was a passenger in the car, she was ejected upon collision. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash, however per Indiana State Law both drivers were tested for alcohol, those results are pending.

The right two lanes of I-70 were closed for nearly five hours while the crash was investigated, the lanes have since reopened.
