US 40 Project begins this week east of Stilesville

HENDRICKS AND PUTNAM COUNTIES, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a small structure replacement project begins on or after Wednesday, April 15 on U.S. 40 just east of Stilesville. The contractor will be closing the left lane in each direction to begin building a crossover. This work is scheduled to be completed in one week, weather permitting.

Once the crossover is constructed traffic will be shifted into one 12’lane in each direction in the eastbound lanes while the contractor replaces the small structure with a bridge in the westbound lanes.  This work is scheduled to be completed by the end of May.  Then traffic will be shifted into the westbound lanes while the contractor completes the work in the eastbound lanes by the end of July.

This project also includes replacing a small structure on U.S. 40 located just east of Mt. Meridian over an unnamed tributary to Little Deer Creek. This work is scheduled to begin in early June and be completed in 30 days.

Milestone Contractors L.P. was awarded the $1.5 million contract.
