Governor, First Lady to Welcome Hoosier Students for Tree Lighting, Host Choral Groups at Statehouse Tomorrow

Indianapolis – Governor Mike Pence and First Lady Karen Pence will welcome Hoosier students grades K-5 to the Statehouse tomorrow for a tree lighting event. Governor Pence will read “Twas the Night Before Christmas” to children in attendance and First Lady Karen Pence will help students decorate their own ornaments to take home. Afterward, the Governor and First Lady will join representatives from each grade level to light the seven trees decorated in the Statehouse Rotunda. These seven trees were donated by the Indiana Christmas Tree Growers Association and the wreath hanging above them was hand-crafted and donated by the Friends of the Indiana State Archives.

 

Later in the evening, the Governor and First Lady will attend the third annual Christmas at the Capitol, a holiday event featuring Hoosier choirs. Details below.

10:00 a.m. EDT – Governor, First Lady to welcome Hoosier students for tree lighting event at the Statehouse

5:30 p.m. EDT – Governor, First Lady to attend the third annual Christmas at the Capitol event. Four  choirs will perform – the Irvington Prepatory Academy directed by Jennifer Schuck, Indianapolis Youth Chorale directed by Henry Leck, Logansport High School Swing Choir directed by Tim Cahalan, and Herron High School Choir directed by John Harris.
