Town of Brownsburg urges resident’s to not flush wet wipes

The Wastewater Superintendent has reported about recent sewer overflows caused by wet wipes getting flushed down toilets.

While many are labeled “flushable”, personal hygiene or cleaning wipes should always go in the trash, not the toilet. They don’t break down like toilet paper does, so they end up clogging your sewer lateral, the Town’s lift station pumps and sewer mains causing overflows from manholes.

Clogging of wet wipes can result in costly repairs for both the homeowner and the Town, so please follow our advice: Save your pipes. Don’t flush wet wipes!
