STATEHOUSE (March 7, 2018) – Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch, in collaboration with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration’s Division of Aging, announced that nominations are now being accepted for the 2018 Golden Hoosier Awards.
“Visiting towns and cities throughout Indiana, I am always amazed by the dedication members of the community put forward to improve their home towns,” Crouch said. “Our senior citizens should be recognized among all of these amazing people, and I encourage those who know of a special neighbor to submit a nomination for someone in their community who has made a positive difference.”
Crouch said that the award began in 2008 and annually honors Hoosier senior citizens for their lifetime of service and commitment to their communities.
To be eligible for the Golden Hoosier Award, nominees must currently be Indiana residents, aged 65 or older and have been a volunteer in the community for the past three years.
“This award is one of the highest honors given by the state of Indiana to senior citizens,” Crouch said. “I look forward to honoring these Hoosiers who have helped take Indiana to the Next Level.”
The award ceremony will be held at the Statehouse on June 21, 2018. Electronic nomination forms are available at lg.in.gov and must be submitted by Monday, May 14, 2018.
