INDIANAPOLIS –Just after 6:30 p.m., on February 20, 2018, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were dispatched to 3315 Schofield Avenue on a report of a deceased person inside a vehicle. When officers arrived they located a male a vehicle who appeared to be deceased. Officers called for the assistance of the Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) who arrived and pronounced the male deceased. Homicide detectives were called to the scene and immediately began canvassing the area for witnesses. Preliminarily it is believed that the male was shot.
The Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist with identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO) will be assisting and will determine the exact manner and cause of death. The name of the victim can be obtained from the MCCO after proper next-of-kin notification has been made.
