Banks Supports Resolution Standing with Iranian Citizens

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Jim Banks (IN-03), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, today released the following statement after voting for H. Res. 676, a resolution expressing support for Iran’s citizens and condemning the Iranian government’s use of violence on protesters:

“It’s important for freedom-loving countries around the world to stand with the Iranian people in their pursuit of reform and protection of basic human rights. Today’s vote sends a clear message to the Iranian regime that America supports the citizens of Iran and their right to free expression.”

The bipartisan resolution passed the House 415 to 2. Full text of the resolution can be found here.

Congressman Banks introduced a similar resolution last week, and the full text of the Banks resolution can be found here.
