Visit Hendricks County’s Tourism Grant Program Fall Cycle Opens

DANVILLE, IN (July 15, 2015) – Organizations or even individuals needing funding assistance for a project that will enhance tourism or bring visitors to Hendricks County have an opportunity to request as much as $2,500 this summer.

Visit Hendricks County recently opened its fall cycle for the Tourism Enhancement Development (TED) Fund, a long-standing grant program that helps fund local projects that help in its mission to promote and sustain Hendricks County as a tourism destination.

Seven Hendricks County organizations received funding this spring totaling more than $10,000.

The biggest change this year was the addition of a non-matching grant. Visit Hendricks County has always required TED Fund recipients to match their funding request with their own money. However, beginning this spring and continuing with this cycle, requests up to $500 do not require a match. Requests from $501 to $2,500 still require matching funds.

Applications for the fall cycle opened July 1 and will be accepted through Aug. 28 and are geared for fall and winter projects. Tourism businesses, not-for-profits, civic organizations and retail development groups are encouraged to apply for funding through this program. Only businesses, events and entities located in Hendricks County are eligible.

Worthy projects should initiate, enhance, develop and promote tourism in Hendricks County. Special projects such as research and development with potential for long-term benefits will be considered. Projects involving capital investment, operating costs, fireworks displays, food and drink or staff salaries aren’t eligible.

Qualifying projects and events should have a direct impact on the county by attracting out-of-county visitors, increasing visitation and bringing in new money. High consideration will be given to applicants requesting funding for projects that will either generate a new overnight stay or extend the stay in a Hendricks County overnight accommodation property.

Applications and information sheets regarding the TED Fund are available by stopping by the Visit Hendricks County office, 8 W. Main St., Danville, or going online to www.VisitHendricksCounty.com and clicking on Grants under the About Us menu tab.
