Various Area Museums to Offer Free Admission in Recognition of Juneteenth

In honor and recognition of Juneteenth, the local central Indiana Museums will be offering free admission, and the Indianapolis Zoo will be offering a discounted admission of $15 per person.

Free Admission on June 19

Conner Prairie

June 19, 2025 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Conner Prairie will be offering free admission all day long on Thursday June 19 from 10am to 5pm. Stick around after 5pm for the Juneteenth Jubilee that will be taking place from 5 to 8pm. This event will feature

Black-owned businesses and community resources along with local food vendors and entertainment. There will be a kid’s zone with a playground, bouncy houses, face painting, photo booth, interactive music and more.

Newfields

Newfields the Indianapolis Museum of Art is offering free general admission for their Juneteenth celebrations.  The festivities begin at 10am with artist and guest curator Angelita Hampton guiding art making and wellness activities.  There will also be a DJ and music in The Garden as well as beverages offering alcoholic beverages and root beer floats.  Themed exhibits like The Truth of Freedom and Resilience Redefined will be featured on the first floor as well. While admission is free you still need to have an admission ticket and entry time.

Indianapolis Zoo

Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art On Saturday, June 21 from 10am to 5pm the Eiteljorg Museum will be hosting a Juneteenth and Jazz Community Celebration that will feature jazz performances, cultural presentations and FREE admission to the museum and free parking.

The museum will be free and offer free parking from 10 to 5pm and  will have special activities including crafts, videos, food and exhibits from 11am to 3pm.

Kurt Vonnegut Museum & Library

The museum will host a special airing of The Tuskegee Airmen, a film about the legendary all-Black World War II fighter pilots at noon.

Acclaimed percussionist Carrington Clinton will lead a communal drum circle at 3:30 and storytelling, live music and education will take place throughout the day.  The museum will close early at 5pm to honor the holiday.
