R. Richey – WYRZ News – 3/15/2023

Pittsboro – The Pittsboro town council has voted to halt trash pickup by Waste Management and take over the duties itself, according to the town council’s website.

Town Council President Jarod Baker said in the statement the new service is in answer to complaints from Pittsboro residents.

According to the item, weekly trash removal will begin with one truck and two workers. It will service area residents and those who pay for town trash pickup.

Recycling will continue under separate arrangements with Waste Management.

No increase in monthly fees is planned at this time.

The start date for the service was not announced.
