With so much rainy weather this spring, we’ve seen several neighborhoods with storm drains blocked by grass and other yard waste. When you mow, please don’t blow the grass onto the sidewalk or in the street where it can wash into storm drains. It clogs the drains, pipes and culverts causing flooding and it also carries fertilizers and pesticides into our waterways. Leave grass clippings on the lawn to biodegrade as a natural fertilizer or properly dispose of yard waste at the Hendricks County Solid Waste Management District’s recycling center.
