Town of Brownsburg Launches Online Building Permit Process

Brownsburg – The Town of Brownsburg has launched an online portal to give Development Services customers the ability to apply, pay online and request inspections for permits from their office or home without visiting Town Hall.

The Development Services Portal significantly expands the Town’s online services, making the planning and permitting process easier for applicants and helping staff issue permits in a timely and consistent manner. The initial launch phase of the Development Services Portal will enable the permitting and inspection functions, with planning applications and code compliance requests activated in the coming weeks.

The launch, although timely in response to the COVID-19 crisis, is a result of a multi-year effort to convert the Town’s planning and permitting processes into an online format. The Portal will help residents, businesses and developers easier meet the goals of the Town’s Comprehensive Plan and Unified Development Ordinance.

Town Manager Jeffery A. Eder said “The Development Services staff fast-tracked the launch of the Portal so we could continue to support economic development while most employees are working remotely under Governor Holcomb’s stay-at-home order. It is imperative that construction in Brownsburg be given every opportunity to succeed for the sake of our community’s economy in this uncertain time.”

Customers with permitting needs can register at to apply via the Development Services Portal at www.citizenserve.com/brownsburg.  A user guide and file naming standards can be found on the Development Services page of the Town website www.brownsburg.org.  Customer support sessions can be arranged with staff to assist with registering and using the Portal.
