INDIANAPOLIS (April 12, 2016) —For the fourth year in a row, Secretary of State Connie Lawson is collecting women’s suits for Dress for Success’s Send One Suit week. The drive starts Monday, April 18 and runs through Friday, April 22. Participants are encouraged to donate one suit and one blouse or a monetary gift.
“In the past three years, we have collected over 600 suits,” said Secretary Lawson. “These suits help empower women to take charge of their lives by giving them the confidence they need in an interview to get the job and the wardrobe to make a career change.
“Ultimately, these suits do more than help women get jobs; they help them move towards economic independence. I encourage everyone to look in their closet this week to see if they have a least one suit they can donate. ”
All contributions will go to Dress for Success Indianapolis, an organization dedicated to promoting economic independence for women by providing professional attire, a network of support and career development tools. Donated suits go to central Indiana women who need professional attire for job interviews or new careers, empowering women in our community to be self-sufficient and successful in work and life. About 40 percent of Dress for Success Indianapolis’s annual suit needs are met through Send One Suit Week.
Contributions can be made at the Secretary of State’s office anytime during the week of April 18-22 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The Secretary of State’s office is located in Room 201 of the Statehouse at 200 W. Washington Street in Indianapolis.
