Saturday Morning Crash on I-465 Claims Two Lives

Indianapolis, IN – The Indiana State Police are investigating an early morning single vehicle crash that claimed the lives of a two Indianapolis residents Saturday.

Around 5:30 a.m. emergency crews were dispatched to a single vehicle crash on I-465 westbound near the 2.9 mile marker.   Witnesses to the crash said they watched the Chevrolet pickup flip multiple times before it came to a rest.

Troopers arrived to find a deceased male and a female that was critically injured.  Both individuals had been ejected from the truck.  The man was pronounced dead at the scene.  The woman was transported to Eskenazi Hospital where she later died.

Troopers are working to determine the cause of the crash.  Preliminary indications are that the truck entered the grassy center median and the driver overcorrected as they exited causing the pickup to role several times.  Neither individual was wearing a seatbelt at the time.  Investigators are still working on determining the identification of both individuals that were killed and notifying the next of kin.

All westbound lanes of I-465 were closed for approximately an hour before being completely re-opened at 9:00 a.m. while the crash was investigated and the scene was cleared.
