Pittsboro Community Event Allows Residents to Meet Local Law Enforcement Officers Over a Cup of Coffee

This past Wednesday was the “Coffee with a Cop” event in Pittsboro. The Pittsboro Police Department invited the public to enjoy conversation with coffee and donuts on them, at Flossiemae’s Ice Cream and Coffee shop. You had a choice to stop by in the morning between 9am and 11am. If you couldn’t make that, you had a second chance between 5pm and 7pm to stop by the North Maple street address and on top of everything else, enjoy a bit of casual get-to-know-you conversation with local law enforcement. Pittsboro Police Chief Christie Patterson along with fellow officers could be seen shaking hands and passing out stickers that looked like police badges to the children that stopped by.  Chief Patterson said she was pleased with the community turnout. “The turnout has been fantastic. We had several people stop by to see us and a lot of times it was standing room only in there.”

When asked about the Pittsboro Night Out Against Crime event being rained out for the second time, Patterson said “I can tell you right now that we have a lot of hot dogs and hamburgers to give away to anyone that is hungry. We are planning a Family Fun Night. We intend to get the bounce houses here and the grills carried over the park and start cooking up some hot dogs & hamburgers for everyone.”

Patterson went on to say there is no date set for the Family Fun Night, but the Pittsboro Police Department will let the public know as soon as it has been decided.
