PLAINFIELD, IN – The Town of Plainfield continues to attract substantial private development that positively impacts the local and regional economy.
In 2018, private development included total investment of over $253,000,000 in Plainfield. Walmart.com, Ingram Micro and Niagara Bottling all expanded their operations. In addition, LJ Zucca Distribution, Pelican Biothermal and MD Logistics all invested in new buildings in the Plainfield industrial/warehouse district. Those investments bring on 750 full-time positions. In addition, developers, Browning Investments, Ambrose Property Group and Distribution Realty Group (DRG), have all initiated the planning process for additional speculative buildings for future tenants.
“Walmart invested over $142,000,000 at the Walmart.com Plainfield operation, creating 450 jobs,” said Town Council President, Robin Brandgard. “The Greater Indianapolis area, as a whole, continues to reap the benefits of the investments being made in the Town of Plainfield.”
“The employees who work in our industrial parks, both residents and guests to our Town each day, also contribute to our local economy; by spending their money at our mall, in our restaurants and local shops,” said Town Manager, Andrew Klinger. “Additionally, job creation positively impacts income tax revenue, which is the second largest source of revenue used to provide Town services including public safety, parks, trails and more.”
In addition to the industrial park developments and investments, the Town of Plainfield also saw growth in residential and commercial investments in 2018. Examples include Kinnley Court, which is a nearly 8 million dollar, affordable senior living apartment complex on Clarks Creek Road. Level Two established a 5,000 square foot co-working space on the second floor of the Shops at Perry Crossing. Level Two is a new Plainfield non-profit, created by Hendricks County leaders to enhance Plainfield’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Finally, another substantial project in 2018 included The Embassy Suites Conference Center. The facility has already hosted several conferences, while awaiting the completion of the second phase of the project: the grand opening of the Embassy Suites Hotel.
“The sun continues to shine on the Town of Plainfield,” added Brandgard. “The significant investments in all sectors: industrial, commercial and residential illustrate that Plainfield is a very attractive Town to live, work and play. The year 2018 was very successful, but we are already excited about 2019 as we anticipate another strong investment year.”
