Lafayette Traffic Stop Nets Escapee

Lafayette-Monday evening at around 11:45 p.m. on Greenbush and 13th Street, troopers made a routine traffic stop for an expired plate and discovered drugs and an escapee from Marion County.

The traffic stop was conducted by Troopers Stephen Grayson and Jared McQueary on a 1993 red Mercury Cougar for an equipment violation.  During the traffic stop, drugs were located on the passenger, Erin Michelle Emrich 30 years old.  Emrich was also found to be wanted out of Marion County on escape from work release.

Emrich was allegedly found to be in possession of suspected heroin and hypodermic needles.  She attempted to use false names and social security numbers to hide her real identity.  She was taken to Tippecanoe County Jail and charged with Wanted on a Warrant-Escape a Level 6 Felony, False Informing a Class A Misdemeanor, Possession of a controlled Substance a Level 6 Felony and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia a Class C Misdemeanor.

The driver was released with no charges pending at this time.  The investigation is continuing
