Indianapolis, IN – Just before 12:00 p.m. today divers from the Indianapolis Fire Department located a blue Dodge Charger submersed in a retention pond at 3960 Pendleton Way, Indianapolis. The divers determined there was a deceased person inside the vehicle. Preliminary investigation determined the vehicle had been traveling on I-465 when it left the roadway and ended up in a retention pond. In conjunction with investigators from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the Indiana State Police responded to the scene to investigate.
State Police Detectives believe the vehicle was southbound on I-465 just south of Pendleton Pike when it left the roadway to the right for unknown reasons. The vehicle went through a ditch, through a chain link fence before crossing Pendleton Way and into a retention pond. The deceased male inside the vehicle was identified as 44 year old Ronald Wade of Indianapolis. Mr. Wade had been reported as a missing person to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department September 28, 2020.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Wade’s death is ongoing. At this time, there is no further information to be released. Detectives will work with the Marion County Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
