(INDIANAPOLIS – March 04, 2015) – A solution for families to meet the March 10th FAFSA filing deadline to maximize Indiana State grant eligibility is being offered by Indianapolis based not-for-profit ISM College Planning (ISMCollegePlanning.org). Funding college with FREE money is critical to degree completion and minimizing debt. A key step is meeting the financial aid application deadline and ISM is here to help!
Students need to complete the FAFSA, which determines their eligibility for federal, state and institutional grants. Colleges listed on the form will then be able to provide students an award letter outlining the various funds available to help them pay for school. If students don’t complete the FAFSA by the March 10th deadline they may leave money on the table resulting possibly in increased college related debt.
A common misconception is that families have to have completed their 2015 taxes before they can file, but the truth is they can simply indicate they will file their taxes and estimate the financial information using their 2014 taxes. Once 2015 taxes are complete they can simply update the FAFSA application. ISM provides a FAFSA Checklist on their website (ISMCollegePlanning.org) under the Resources section to help families know what they need in order to complete the financial aid application.
Students still needing to complete the FAFSA can contact the ISM College Planning team for FREE assistance. ISM helps clarify questions on the FAFSA, determine which parent information is included on the form, what assets need to be included and any other questions that arise. We also assist the student and parent in creating their FSA ID, which is a username and password needed to electronically sign the application. With the March 10th deadline quickly approaching, families can call ISM College Planning at 317-416-2888 or email the team at Outreach@ISMCollegePlanning.org for help!
