Indiana Department of Education Kicks Off Inaugural Teacher Leaders Bootcamp

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) today kicked off the 2019 Teacher Leaders Bootcamp. The first of its kind Bootcamp offers selected educators an opportunity to engage in innovative and relevant professional development focused on growing their leadership capacity.

“Indiana is full of passionate and dedicated teachers devoted every day to the success of our students,” said State Superintendent Dr. Jennifer McCormick. “As a former teacher, I understand the importance of growing effective educator leadership systems. I am excited to kick off Indiana’s Teacher Leaders Bootcamp and equip teachers with the knowledge and tools they need to further lead their districts and schools to success.”

Committed to the recruitment, retention, and development of excellent educators across the state, IDOE developed the Teacher Leaders Bootcamp. The Bootcamp experience provides participating teachers an opportunity to develop teacher leadership skills. Graduates will then be equipped to implement those skills in an effort to support and drive their schools toward success. In partnership with IDOE and national experts, participants will gain knowledge and experience, build connections, and engage in professional learning. In addition, the Bootcamp creates engagement in a statewide network of teachers to promote and strengthen teacher leadership in Indiana. In total, 50 educators will participate in a series of five-day sessions.
