IMPD Violent Crimes Unit takes wanted murder suspect into custody

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Homicide detectives announce the arrest of Thomas Teague (46) for his alleged role in the murder of James Foy (61) on 12/04/2018.

Just after 4 a.m. on 12/04/2018, officers with the IMPD were dispatched to the 3300 block of Boulevard Place on a report to check the welfare of a person.  When officers arrived they could see a male down, officers made entry and requested Indianapolis EMS to respond.  EMS personnel responded and pronounced that male dead on-scene.

Homicide detectives responded and began canvassing the area for witnesses. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist with identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office assisted in determining the exact manner and cause of death of Mr. Foy.

During the course of the investigation, detectives developed probable cause for the arrest of Teague under the suspicion of murder. An arrest warrant was issued and Teague was later located by the IMPD Violent Crimes Unit on 12/19/2018. Teague was later transported to the Marion County Main Jail.

The City continues to make critical investments in public safety technology and staffing, and is building upon ongoing initiatives to combat violent crime in Indianapolis neighborhoods. 2018 saw a significant increase in IMPD’s clearance rate, from roughly 42% in 2017 to 65% in 2018. More IMPD beats, a Crime Gun Intelligence Center, and group violence interventions are among the City’s planned public safety efforts in 2019.
