IMPD Homicide Detectives Make Arrest in July Homicide

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Homicide detectives identified and arrested a suspect on Friday for his alleged involvement in the July murder of 43-year-old Latisha Burnett.

On Monday, July 12, 2021, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Southwest District officers were dispatched to a report of a person deceased in the 1200 block of N. Luett Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female deceased.  Homicide detectives responded and began their investigation. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence.  Detectives later learned the female was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Homicide detectives continued their investigation and were able to identify the alleged suspect. On Friday, November 5, Homicide Detectives arrested 41-year-old Alsham Laster on a warrant for Murder for his alleged involvement in the death of Latisha Burnett.  IMPD Southwest District officers, the SWAT team, and the violent crime unit (VCU) assisted in the arrest.  The Marion County Prosecutors Office (MCPO) will make final charging decisions.
