IMPD homicide detectives arrest man after Saturday morning homicide

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Homicide detectives arrest 25-year-old Joseph Cruz Gonzalez for his involvement in the death of Sarah “Brianne” Serna on November 17, 2018.

Just after 4:14 am on November 17, 2018 officers responded to the 200 block of West 32nd Street on a disturbance between a man and woman.  Officers located a female at the location, identified as Sarah “Brianne” Serna with blunt force trauma to her head.  Indianapolis Fire Department and Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene where they pronounced the female deceased.  Homicide detectives responded and began canvassing the area for witnesses.

The Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist with identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. Officers and Detectives working together located Joseph Cruz Gonzalez shortly after the incident in the 2000 block of North College Ave. Homicide detectives interviewed and arrested Joseph Cruz Gonzalez.
