Hendricks County Master Gardeners Award Scholarship to Kaitlin Cozzolino of Avon, Indiana

(DANVILLE, Ind. — June 1, 2026) The Hendricks County Master Gardeners have awarded their 2026 scholarship to Kaitlin Cozzolino, an Avon resident and 2026 graduate of Avon High School.

Cozzolino, the daughter of Christina and Peter Cozzolino, plans to attend Purdue University’s College of Agriculture to pursue a degree in landscape architecture. The $2,000 scholarship supports a Hendricks County student pursuing higher education in a horticulture- or agriculture-related field.

Cozzolino graduated with an honors diploma. She studied horticulture through the Area 31 Career Center, was a member of the National Honor Society and served on the school yearbook staff. She also has more than three years of experience at Avon Gardens, a local garden center, and participated in an FFA Career Development Event.

Kaitlin Cozzolino, center, is presented the Hendricks County Master Gardener Scholarship by scholarship committee chairs Teri Mitchum, left, and Dee Dee Moore.

In her scholarship application, Cozzolino described landscape architecture as a field that combines creativity, environmental knowledge and practical design. “Landscape architecture blends design work with the functionality and topography of a space, requiring both creativity and practicality,” Cozzolino wrote. “I want to create spaces that strengthen communities and promote environmental stewardship.”

The Hendricks County Master Gardener Scholarship recognizes students with an interest in horticulture, agriculture, environmental science or related fields. Scholarship organizers said Cozzolino stood out for her academic achievement, work ethic and commitment to using plants and outdoor spaces to benefit communities.
