Hendricks County Health Department to Distribute “Stop the Bleed Kits” to Local Schools

HENDRICKS COUNTY, IN – The Hendricks County Health Department, in partnership with the Indiana District 5 Healthcare Coalition, will distribute “Stop the Bleed Kits” to all schools (public, private, and charter) within Hendricks County. Each school must receive training before the kits will be dispersed, and training will be provided by the Hendricks County Health Department and Medical Reserve Corps.

“Stop the Bleed” training includes information on how to intervene during a bleeding emergency of any sort before professional help arrives. The training encourages bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help and has been proven to save lives during bleeding emergencies.

In Hendricks County, St. Susanna Catholic School, St. Malachy Catholic School, Avon Community School Corporation, Brownsburg Community School Corporation, Danville Community School Corporation, and Plainfield Community School Corporation have each already participated in training for their schools and will receive kits during the fall semester. The remaining school districts and schools will or may also be trained this fall. Four kits will be distributed per school building for each school in the county.

Funding for the kits was secured through a grant with the Indiana State Department of Health and the Indiana District 5 Healthcare Coalition.
