INDIANAPOLIS – Yeoman residents will soon enjoy a brand new community park, thanks to a recently launched crowdfunding campaign. The campaign is sponsored by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) and offered through the crowdfunding platform developed by Patronicity. The campaign is led by the Town of Yeoman.
“The completion of Phase 2 of Yeoman Community Park will further the town’s revitalization efforts,” said Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch. “The park also provides the Yeoman community with a safe place for their children to play and a gathering place for families and friends to meet with one another.”
If the campaign reaches its $13,500 goal by October 5th, the ‘Yeoman Community Park’ will receive a matching grant of $13,500 from IHCDA’s CreatINg Places program.

The funding raised during this campaign will allow the Town to complete Phase 2 of the Community Park. Phase 1 consisted of demolishing a vacant building on the property and installing a school bus stop shelter. Phase 2 will see even more of the park come to life, with a playground set for ages 5-12 and one for ages 2-5, a small wooden play area for toddlers, a swing set, a safety fence, a walking path, landscaping, benches and trash receptacles.
“Our park project has been like a child to me, growing from an idea into a campaign to fund and build Phase 1; it has been exciting to see it develop,” said Josh Bird, Project Manager and Yeoman Town Board Member. “Completing Phase 2 with this campaign will mean so much to our community and surrounding communities. The park will provide a safe place for children to stay active and for families to spend time together. We are hopeful it will bring new people to our community and will be the first major piece in our town’s revitalization efforts. We cannot do this without the support of our communities, businesses and this program!”
Since the CreatINg Places program began last fall, projects have raised in excess of $1,330,000 in public funds and an additional $1,100,000 in matching IHCDA funds.
The CreatINg Places program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and Local Units of Government are eligible to apply.
Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should they successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
