Compliance Check in Clay County Leads to Three Arrests

Clay County—On Friday, September 14, Indiana State Police troopers assisted the Clay County Community Corrections and Clay County Probation Office with a routine compliance check at 716 North Washington Street in Brazil. During a search of the residence, officers located approximately 862 grams of suspected methamphetamine, $7,657 in US currency, and paraphernalia items. Three occupants were taken into custody and incarcerated in the Clay County Justice Center. 


Justin Levi Burnham

Justin Levi Burnham, age 31, Brazil, IN. was preliminarily charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Dealing in Methamphetamine, and Maintaining a Common Nuisance. 


Mackenzie Lynn Watson

Mackenzie Lynn Watson, age 30, Brazil, IN. was preliminarily charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Maintaining a Common Nuisance. 


Baylee R. Thompson

Baylee R. Thompson, age 19, of Greencastle, IN. was preliminarily charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Maintaining a Common Nuisance. 

Indiana State Police Putnamville District routinely assists the Clay County Community Corrections and Probation Offices with field compliance checks of offenders on community supervision. 

The case was investigated by ISP Trooper Kyle Hall and CCCC Officer Evan Sutherland with assistance from CCCC Director Mary Brown, Clay County Probation Officers Katie Bradbury and Kelsey Stearley, and ISP Sergeants Sam Stearley, Jared Nicoson, Chris Carter, and CSI Jim Cody, ISP Detective Mike Taylor, and Troopers Bill Bradbury and Michael Organ, and Clay County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Emily Clark. 

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
