ELKHART – Elkhart County Prosecutor Curtis Hill, a candidate for the Republican nomination for Attorney General in Indiana, issued this statement in response to the closure of Dr. Ulrich Klopfer’s abortion clinic after 38 years of operation in South Bend:
“For years, those of us in Northern Indiana have watched the growing controversy surrounding Dr. Ulrich Klopfer. Today’s closure of his abortion operation in South Bend is a positive result that highlights the importance of the Attorney General’s office in Indiana.
“Enforcing the law, and protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of Hoosiers from doctors who don’t follow the rules, is an important function of the office. I will both enforce those laws and faithfully execute my responsibility to defend Hoosiers as Indiana’s Attorney General.
“We deserve the peace of mind to know that life is protected in this state, and the closure of Dr. Klopfer’s facility is a step in the right direction.”
