Anderson Man Killed in Single Vehicle Crash on I-465

Indianapolis – The Indiana State Police are investigating a single vehicle crash that claimed the life of an Anderson man Monday afternoon.

Around 3:30 p.m. police and emergency crews were dispatched to a crash on northbound I-465 near the 46.6 mile marker.   This is approximately one mile south of the US 40 exit on the city’s east side.

Troopers and medical personnel arrived at the scene to find a single male subject that had been ejected from his truck.  The man was pronounced dead at the scene.  A witness to the crash stated that the man gradually drove off the right side of the road before the truck began to role ejecting the driver.

Troopers are working to determine the reason why the man drove off the road.  The deceased man was identified as 35 year-old Richard Morgan.  He was driving a Junk King Company box truck that was totaled in the crash.  It is believed that Morgan was not wearing a seatbelt.

A single northbound lane of I-465 was restricted for approximately three hours while investigators documented and cleared the scene.
